Uintah Basin weekends

I'm totally serious when I say that we have friends that LOVE to visit the Uintah Basin.  I don't know if it is the unique movie poster art that draws them here,

or the enticing restaurant ads,

it could be the sidewalk gangsta warnings,

or just the quaint feel of this beautiful town (that I didn't even know existed until Jed decided to move here when we were just friends). Regardless of the cause, I love it when friends come to visit and explore the diverse activities that the Basin has to offer.  Thanks for coming guys!  Jed, Heaton and I can't get enough of y'all.   Come back soon.

it's gettin' hot out here

It is SO hot outside, that Heaton has started hiding indoors from the blazing summer!
I found him in the basement tucked way under the futon!

Heaton moves in reverse very well... then he gets stuck.

I have a BEAUTIFUL baby and I am so in love with him!  (I am also so in love with my baby daddy!)

Right now I m working part time, which means that I get to hang out with baby Heaton every Monday and Friday.  It's fantastic.  I love being a mom.  I love being his mom.  He is so tiny but so fun and loving and can make any crappy situation wonderful.  He loves to clap, to laugh, smile and drool.  He's better than magical unicorns!

baby Heaton has been playing in the pool, playing on my bed, playing with his friend Dylan, and hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Maddocks while Jed and I bounced back to Lagoon with Todd and Tracie, taking baths and trying to learn to crawl!

this is my friend Catherine who fortunately works for DDI Vantage, so she came over to play and help Heaton practice crawling.  Thanks, Catherine.  When Heaton did it himself, he got stuck a couple of times.

After a long day of practicing the commando crawl, he was too pooped to eat and this happened.....

Lagoon! It's what fun is!

Darn tootin'!
Last Friday Jed and I went to Lagoon with Jed's sister, Tracie, and her two beautiful kids Taylor and Logan.  It was a blast!  We rode almost every ride, and screamed so much that I STILL have a sore throat.  We got there sometime in the morning (I wasn't keeping track because I was busy eating my delicious cheese sandwich from In-N-Out and slamming a Diet Coke!)  and we did not leave till the park was closed at 11 pm.  Too bad we had to drive home at 5am the next morning to make it to all day Saturday school (UGH!)

Linda, Jed's mom drove home from her vacation so she could watch Heaton while were we off getting cheap thrills all day.  Jed's brother Justin showed up with his kids to help irrigate the garden before we headed off to Lagoon.

yes, this picture is sideways, but tilt your head cause it's really cute!  That's Anissa, Isaac, Eli, Natalya, Noah, and Heaton.  Cousin love!  Micah was standing right there and did not want to be in the picture.

You are not allowed to ride the Jet Star 2 alone.  Jed has loved this ride since he was a kid, and graciously sat in the lap of a kind stranger so that Tracie and I could pile on each other.

This is the bruise that I got from the Jet Star 2--I like to call it the Death star, cause, who wouldn't?  I swear this bruise looks way more tough in person.

This was one thing that Taylor really wanted to do.  These are pretty pretty swings.  When you are on them, you feel like you are flying around Marie Antoinette's castle The  Chateau de Versailles.  The decorations are very ornate and old school.  I'm still waiting for Tracie to email me more pictures that prove that me and Logan were there and that we DID have fun!

last but not least.....

Master Shake hanging out at Granny's shakes.
We stopped in Heber on our way to Salt Lake the night before.

i've been picking apart this blog to figure out why there's a background image that Suzanne doesn't want... i found the code finally... repeated in each posting! I deleted it all and now i'm seeing if this post includes the sly code... i may have to delve deeper.

the hunger games

Darn.  While I was at the premier of Eclipse a couple of weeks ago, Brittani told me she would lend me her copy of The Hunger Games.  She sent them over the next day.  That is the fastest I have ever finished a book cause....... Man, SO intense, and SO horrible, and SO good.   I vowed to myself that while in grad school I would not get caught up in such silly things to distract me from studying, but I could not help myself!  Now, onto Catching Fire!  Thanks Brittani.

good job kickin' butt in 1776

thanks to you forefathers, I get to live in a free country and once a year celebrate like this...

yes, that is a giant bottle of coke zero hot air balloon being illuminated by the sunrise.  beautiful, too bad it wasn't full of the liquid deliciousness!

we also went swimming, played games, got free french fries, danced with sparklers, celebrated a birthday, ate ice cream and drank lots of soda!  the 4th of July is by far my favorite holiday.  I am insanely grateful for this free land and all the sacrifice that has been taken place so that I can live here with people that I love.
